Scott Brown with Celebrate Messiah NZ

Scott Brown

Executive Director

Scott Brown, a Jewish believer in Jesus, has been sharing the Good News of the Messiah with Jewish people since coming to faith in 1981.

Raised in a traditional Jewish home, Scott began his spiritual journey by moving into the bush and living a solitary life. It was there that a co-worker gave Scott a pocket New Testament. That little Bible launched a crisis of faith which led to Scott’s salvation seven years later.

Scott entered full-time missionary service with Chosen People Ministries in 1988 and planted Son of David Congregation (SODC), which later birthed another Messianic congregation – Sar Shalom Fellowship.  After 19 fruitful years of pastoral leadership at SODC, Scott, along with his wife Marjorie and four of their seven children, moved to New Zealand where Scott is serving as National Director of Celebrate Messiah New Zealand.

Scott’s Ministry is threefold: Evangelism – Reaching out to Israeli Backpackers whose physical journeys are often attended with spiritual quests.  Equipping – Teaching Christians the art of disciple-making, as well as a broad range of biblical topics with a view toward revealing the Jewish roots of the Christian faith.  Training – Partnering with local churches, assisting other ministers, lay-workers, and agencies in New Zealand and worldwide who share our vision and are dedicated to the cause of Jewish evangelism.

What others are saying

It’s always a pleasure having Scott Brown visit and share at our church. He and the ministry of Celebrate Messiah are doing an amazing work here in New Zealand. We have had the privilege of Scott running the intentional discipleship course, host the Messiah in Passover dinner, and share at several of our Sunday morning services. People love it! As a pastor, I truly appreciate his commitment to God’s word, and genuine love for people. I highly recommend Scott and Celebrate Messiah.

Thank you for this awe-inspiring course full of scriptural treasures and revelations!   This sort of content needs to be re-run through my mind again!  Thank you for all the illustrations you gave us today!   It has been truly inspirational and now the onus is on me to find out how the Lord wants to take me up to the next level.

I believe one of the greatest needs for the church in New Zealand today is to rediscover its calling and renew its vision for making disciples. To that end, Intentional: a Disciple-Making Catalyst is an essential and valuable investment. From understanding God’s original commission to humankind, through disciple-making in its historical Jewish culture, to recognising the personal call that comes to each of us today to make disciples, this seminar has a significant part to play in inspiring the church to fulfil the call of God and join Him in His redemptive work. The feedback from a recent day-long seminar hosted at our church was overwhelmingly positive, many describing it as life-transforming. Scott is an adept presenter, maintaining engagement of the audience throughout the day. What’s more, Scott’s not just communicating information, but also the heart of someone who is actively engaged in the process he is advocating. His genuineness, humility and grace speak volumes of his lived experience and the fruit of living out what he is teaching. If you’re a pastor, I strongly encourage you to host this seminar at your church; if you’re not, make sure you keep knocking on your Pastor’s door until they do! As more people experience this renewing it will go a long way to breathing new life into our church communities and see the church in New Zealand fulfilling its God-given call to make disciples in fresh and exciting ways!

We have had Scott speak to us of his ministry and he impresses as having a deep passion for this work and I have watched with both interest and amazement at how God has blessed the ministry over the four years or so that I have known Scott.

I have come to know Scott more closely in recent times as opportunities for shared ministry and practical resourcing have arisen, and indeed we have developed a friendship enabling me to see at close hand how he operates.  He is very humble and very capable, he is astute and articulate and maintains a close walk with his Saviour.  I know him to have a heart for the kingdom and an intimacy with the King.  He loves God and he loves His people.  There is good reason why Scott has a busy speaking schedule.

I cannot recommend Scott highly enough.  He is at the forefront of this type of ministry and has innumerable compelling testimonies of God’s goodness, provision and blessing.  As he shares his journey, I know that others will want to be a part of what God is doing in introducing Israeli people to Christ.  It is an exciting work.

Scott carries on the traditions established in the book of Acts where Paul and other disciples go about the countryside teaching, encouraging and exhorting the body of Christ (and others who come to hear) the Good News that Jesus Christ is indeed the Messiah as foretold by Moses and the prophets. This important facet of itinerant ministry which Scott helps fulfil in New Zealand is enhanced by his very professional yet personable delivery, his ability to care intimately for his audience and his focus on the importance of the message.

Scott delivered two one-hour messages at Hope Community Church on a Saturday evening and two slightly shorter messages at Richmond Bible Church on a Sunday morning. Feedback from both events was very positive with many people engaging in the topic and/or taking the opportunity to speak with Scott around the book table after the presentations. As always, his patience and understanding were evident. We would be delighted to have Scott speak again in our area.

We had the pleasurable opportunity of hosting Scott at our fellowship meeting celebrating Purim. We found Scott to be a very blessed speaker to listen to and easy to understand. He shared first on the operations of Zula Lodge in Wanaka, then on his given message for the morning. Following our Sabbath Service we hosted Scott and other visitors for a day of celebration at our home. We have no hesitation in recommending Scott to any fellowship who desires to host him.

Scott has presented the Passover at Windsor Park three times now and our auditorium was packed to capacity. Scott attracts the crowd and we are thankful for his incredible teaching skill. More so Scott presented the gospel of Jesus Christ in a way that was natural and seamless from his Passover presentation.

He was serious about his topic yet kept the audience entertained with his good sense of humour. Scott shared from the heart and has a passion to win souls for Christ, especially a heart for the people of Israel.

I highly recommend Scott as a very talented presenter, teacher, and keynote speaker. We have invited him back for next year as more and more people come to know Jesus our Messiah in a deeper way. The very words of our senior pastor, “Scott challenges my faith and I can listen to him for hours.”

Thanks so much for coming and teaching us in discipleship, I loved it and felt it is the direction I have been looking for, for a long time. I gained an understanding I didn’t know especially as I feel I wasn’t discipled well myself although I have been born again for 38 years.  I am re-studying the course material to gain a clearer picture. At the same time, I have found my first disciple and his girlfriend/partner!! We are rolling here!

I was at the Intentional seminar yesterday and left refreshed, inspired, and with a deeper conviction to dig deeper into God’s word and allow God to work through me to make disciples of Christ.  What I heard taught yesterday was sound biblical teaching, which is deepening my conviction that there are many other saved believers and disciples out there.

Scott, our folk were buzzing after Saturday. Thank so much. We were blessed by the ministry you brought & by the day itself. It was a blessing.  We will need to run the course again when it fits in with your schedule because some of our folk want to do it again & others have heard how great it was & were sorry to have missed out.

I did not know a lot about Scott or Celebrate Messiah Ministries before having Scott come and speak at our church. Not only was Scott wonderful to work with, but I found his presentation on the Passover and how it finds its fulfilment in Christ profoundly insightful; I received similar feedback from others. I highly recommend him!

Scott’s passion for the Gospel and for the redemption of our people the Yehudim (Jews, Israel) is both an inspiration and a challenge. Scott is polite, articulate, personable, kind, thoughtful, funny, warm and engaging. He brings the faith of our forefathers alive as he teaches the Jewish roots of Christianity and offers a reasoned and timely solution to both Jewish and world evangelism.

As both a Jew and a follower of Yeshua (Jesus) I am delighted and challenged by Scott’s unbridled passion for our Messiah and King Yeshua (Jesus). Both Scott and the team of Celebrate Messiah New Zealand are doing important and productive work in the Kingdom of God.

I unreservedly and wholeheartedly recommend Scott Brown to you, trusting that you will be blessed, inspired and motivated by his ministry in our Messiah Yeshua (Jesus).
